Over 40 years of experience that encompasses successful coaching (16 years at the collegiate level with over 500+ wins), training, sports marketing, fundraising and advertising:

  • International, college, national and professional women's volleyball coach; men's tennis coach; national volleyball player - Head Coach: University of Iowa, Louisiana State University, University of Houston and George Williams College - Trainer: players included Flo Hyman, Rita Crockett, Rose Magers, Danielle Scott, Sherryl Moore and Penny Lucas - National Experience: USA National Team Player, USA National Team Assistant Coach, USA National Team Technical Advisor, Junior National Team Head Coach, World University Games Head Coach, Dallas Belles Major League Volleyball Professional Team Head Coach and Olympic Festival Head Coach.
  • Created innovative training and marketing programs, which included combined volleyball fundamental skills and sport performance training, TEAM CUP (designed to involve all three varsity, JV & freshman interscholastic volleyball teams), College-Bound Day Training Camp, College-Bound Mini-Camp Series for Minorities, College-Bound Showcase; NART™ (Nelson Aquatics Resistance Training); BYOP™ (Bring Your Own Parent) training program for youth ages 4 -10 and first volleyball shoe (Ruth Nelson Side-Out).
  • Published articles, manuals and guides on volleyball and sports marketing; created videos on volleyball fundamental skills; co-authored the Collegiate Athlete Educational Program and co-founded Collegiate Athlete, Inc.
  • Provided nonprofit assistance: founded LVC income minority athletes opportunities) and brvc inc (sports marketing company); provided technical assistance for Special Olympics International as volleyball clinician and first volleyball director.

  • Collegiate Athlete, Inc (2005-present): co-founder/president, marketing company for Collegiate Athlete Educational Foundation, which offers seminars/workshops for parents and high school athletes in the college-selection process
