Our Mission:
The purpose of the Louisiana Volleyball Club (LVC) CITY VOLLEYBALL PROGRAM is to fund inner city girls volleyball clubs formed for the benefit of those who wish to achieve excellence in the sport of volleyball. The program seeks to use the sport of volleyball as a means to teach members not only the skills of the sport, but also to teach self-confidence, encourage the pursuit of personal excellence, promote competitiveness, foster teamwork and develop leadership skills that go beyond athletics into every aspect of the members life. The clubs also encourage and help well-rounded outstanding athletes to pursue higher education.
History:
Louisiana Volleyball Cub (LVC) is a 501 c (3) non-profit organization started in 1985 by Ruth N. Nelson in order to provide athletes an opportunity to improve their skills in order to reach a level of excellence whereby they could receive a higher education by receiving a college athletic scholarship. Ms. Nelson is a former U.S. National Volleyball team member and coach with over 30 years of collegiate, national and international and professional volleyball coaching experience. During her career she has coached three of the top volleyball players in the world – Rose Magers, Rita Crockett and the late Flo Hyman.
At least 50% of over 500 athletes that have participated in LVC went on to receive some form of college athletic scholarship.
